YOLOFOOD - THE BEST HEALTHY 'FASTFOOD'

It's 2018. Gone are the days where skinny is better. Nowadays STRONG is the new sexy. For us guys, we want to get that mythical six pack abs and for the ladies out there, i am sure tone thighs and a slim tummy were somewhere in that new year resolution list that you chucked aside sometime through the year. For us to look strong, we have to eat healthy and nutritious food and trust me, no one wants to pay $7 freaking dollars for a salad. (I'm talking about you MACDONALDS). Its hard to find good, healthy and value for money healthy options nowadays so when i heard from my friends there was a place that sells customisable healthy food that won't break the bank, i jumped at the opportunity to try it out.

YOLOFOOD is a healthy food restaurant that aims to break the ideology of paying $10 for a couple of pieces of leaves. It is a takeaway food concept that also does delivering service so you can either choose to go and takeaway from their stores or you can choose to have them deliver to your office. They have two physical store, one at The Star Vista and the other at Icon Village and a third store that only offers delivery at Tai Seng. The one i went to was their Star Vista outlet which was pretty small, it only had less than 10 seats if you wanted to sit down and have your meal there so i could tell that this particular outlet was more focused on take aways. I have heard from my friends that the outlet at Icon Village is larger and actually looks like a actual cafe.

The meal has a good portion of carbs to protein to fats for those who are more health conscious

On to the food. They have a wide range of healthy options on their menu such as Coconut Chicken with Brown Rice and Veggies ($7.50), Bulgogi Beef with Kimchi Salad and Veggies ($12.50) and Chicken Rice with Brown Rice and Asian Salad ($7.50) . On top of that, you can customize your own meal if their options are not up to your liking or if you are craving a little more protein. You have a choice of a protein, sides, toppings, sauce and other add ons. I got the Coconut Chicken with Brown Rice and Veggies because it sounded interesting and i also got a side of their Acai Bowl that i created myself.

Coconut Chicken with Brown RIce and Veggies ($7.50)

The Coconut Chicken with Brown Rice and Veggies tasted pretty decent. It's coconut sauce reminded me of a very mild version of our Singapore Laksa and the chicken chunks were full of flavor and moist as well.

My Acai Bowl was alright, not the best Acai Bowl that i have eaten before but still pretty good in its own right. The flavor combination can vary can wildly as you get to choose what ingredients to go into your own Acai Bowl.

Overall if you feel like eating clean but not break the bank or maybe you just had a little too much to indulge in over the weekends and is now feeling guilty about your weekend binge, give YOLOFOOD a try and you'll understand that good food doesn't necessarily have to always taste bad.
