A CONTENDER FOR BEST CHICKEN RICE IN SINGAPORE?
Situated in a cozy Choa Chu Kang neighbourhood, Boon Chiang Hainanese Chicken Rice is one of the many chicken rice stores that you will see in the various hawker centers and food courts throughout Singapore. The reason why I went to this particular chicken rice stall was because rumors have it that Boon Chiang Hainanese Chicken Rice is almost on par with the famous Boon Tong Kee chicken rice. If you didn't already know, Boon Tong Kee is one of the top few famous chicken rice stalls in Singapore. It belongs up there with other famous stalls like Wee Nam Kee and Tian Tian Hainanese chicken rice.
A plate of Boon Chiang Hainanese Chicken Rice cost only $3.80 and it comes with a bowl of chicken corn broth soup which was pretty darn tasty. The chicken meat was tender, juicy and was accompanied by a sweet tasting sauce that further enhanced the flavor. I wished the portion of the meat was slightly bigger though but for $3.80 it was pretty decent. The rice was not as fragrant as Boon Tong Kee but nonetheless, it was still mouthwateringly good. You cant sell chicken rice without good chilli and Boon Chiang Hainanese Chicken Rice chilli was definitely on point. It had a good kick to it and is one of the better chilli's I have tasted maybe only losing to Boon Tong Kee's.
Overall it was in terms of value for money it was definitely worth it but i think it falls short as a contender for Boon Tong Kee. However, if you're in the area and you're craving some chicken rice, be sure to check out Boon Chiang Hainanese Chicken Rice! They have a total of 4 outlets in Punggol, Ang Mo Kio, Serangoon and Choa Chu Kang.
